WKES Information

Wicksburg Elementary School is a K-6 school nestled in the Western corner of Houston County, Alabama. WKES serves a rural community that takes tremendous pride in its school. Wicksburg’s population is growing, and the school’s excellent academic reputation is a large factor in that growth.

“Striving for Excellence,” the school’s motto, is embraced by faculty and students alike. Our elementary teachers use research-based, hands-on instruction to establish and improve Reading scores. Each student receives individualized attention and gains valuable social skills by working with other students in small groups. The successes of our elementary program have been phenomenal! Math is taught using the enVision curriculum, which is based on repetition of concepts and encourages hands-on learning. Wicksburg's elementary curriculum also incorporates Music classes, Computer classes, along with daily Physical Education that enriches each student’s well-being and learning.

There are extracurricular activities in the Wicksburg community for students of every age. Elementary students can choose to participate in 4-H or join the 4-H Skeet Shooting Team, Boys’ or Girls’ Scouts, and a variety of youth league sports.

We welcome you to visit Wicksburg Elementary School, home of the Panthers. We are continually “Striving for Excellence,” and it shows!
